From Dr. Mark Ogle —
If you feel you can’t wait until my first available appointment, ask my receptionist to put you on the cancellation list. If you believe you need evaluation and medications right away, consider consulting your primary care physician until you can get in to see me. If you’re having strong suicidal or harmful ideation, or otherwise are in extreme distress, you should get evaluated right away at Community Hospital North, St. Vincent Stress Center, or another psychiatric facility in the area. | Urgent care >

At your first appointment
From Dr. Mark Ogle —
At the end of our conversation, I will give you:
- My provisional diagnosis of your condition
- The recommended level of care you should receive (in most cases outpatient, rarely inpatient or intensive outpatient)
- Any medication recommendations and prescriptions for these
- Whether or not talk therapy is recommended, and who should provide this
- When you should return to see me

Follow-up visits
From Dr. Mark Ogle —
Usually I see new patients back between 4 and 6 weeks after their first appointment. We should have a good idea how well your medications are working at that point. People who are stabilized generally come in every 3 to 6 months or so. This is something we will discuss at your appointments. If you are very stable on your medications you may find it preferable to have your primary care physician write the prescriptions for these which would be fine.

Between appointments
From Dr. Mark Ogle —
I will occasionally do phone appointments for established patients under special circumstances—for example, if you’re out of the state for an extended period. Unfortunately, insurance companies will not reimburse for phone appointments, so you will have to pay, in full, out of pocket for those instances.

Late appointments
From Dr. Mark Ogle —
If you’re running late please call and check in with my office staff. There may be a cancellation available later in the day. If you’re running 15 minutes late or more and there are no cancellations, you may not be able to be seen that day. Unlike many physicians, I generally run on time or very close to it, so don’t count on me running behind!

Missed appointments
From Dr. Mark Ogle —
My office staff generally calls two days before your appointment to remind you of the appointment. We do require 24 hours’ notice for cancellations.
I realize that sometimes crises and unexpected emergencies do come up and appointments have to be cancelled on late notice – if you call before your appointment and offer a legitimate excuse, you will not be charged. Please understand that, unlike many physicians, I do not overbook and if you don’t come at your appointment time I will have no one to see during that time. If you just “forget” or decide not to show up you will be charged for a failed appointment.
